The Postmaster-General.
Commander S. C. A. Hastings, Postmaster-General, accompanied by Mrs. Hastings, arrived from furlough by the German Mail Steamer "Hamburg" last night. Commander Hastings, who looks very fit, lost no time in getting into harness, being at his post of duty at an early hour this morning. In welcoming Commander Hastings back to the Colony, we take the opportunity of expressing public satisfaction at the manner in which Mr. B. Lewis, Assistant Postmaster-General, has managed this important public office during the absence of his chief. Mr. Lewis has had a lot of hard work to get through but has succeeded most admirably, while his tact and unfailing urbanity have been invaluable in making the machinery run smoothly and without friction. His ready efforts to suit the public convenience on every possible occasion have won him the highest esteem with the general public. We regret to learn that for some time back Mr. Lewis has been in indifferent health.
